Losing Weight Ater Pregnancy

7 June 2009 No Comment

Having children is wonderful gift, but that doesn’t mean your body has to pay for it for the rest of your life. If you’ve recently given birth and are ready to lose weight after pregnancy, you’ve come to the right place.

To begin your fat loss journey, you first need to review the foods you’re eating each day. If you’ve “eaten for two” over the last nine months, it’s time to step down that portion size and start thinking about dumping the junk food! Many women never trying to deny their cravings during pregnancy and end up adding on unwanted pounds. Changing your physique after pregnancy means changing the way you approach food and it’s role in your life.

Watch closely for the times when you want to eat for rewards or for comfort. Thinking of food as a reward or as way of comforting yourself is guaranteed to add on the pounds. While it’s always important to limit your intake of junk food but I’m not about to tell you to throw away all of your cakes and cookies! I love my chocolate chips too much to say anybody had to give up sweets. We just have to be more controlled about our sweets consumption.

Give Cheating Days A Try

Cheat days are a fabulous strategy for battling junk food cravings because you set aside one day each week to eat anything and everything you want. I’ll load up a grocery cart with chips, cookies, pretzels, ice cream, cake and anything that strikes my fancy in the grocery store. The shopping spree is half the fun. I’ll eat all the junk I want throughout the day and never give a thought to how many calories I’m eating. It’s my favorite day.

This heightened calorie intake once a week will increase your metabolism, making your body burn more fat throughout the rest of the week. Not to mention that you won’t want to look at junk food for at least a week after that cheat day!

Exercising to Lose Weight After Pregnancy

Hopefully you’ve been doing some exercising during your pregnancy to help keep your muscle in decent shape. If not, just begin from your current place. When you chose an exercise plan in it’s important to chose one that’s enjoyable, that’s effective and that doesn’t need a lot of time devoted to it. I have really loved the female version of Turbulence Training. It takes less than half an hour, is designed to be super effective and is very affordable.

Take small steps at first if you have to, even moving slowly is still moving forward. Your small, daily changes are going to amount to big changes down the road. It can be hard to lose weight after pregnancy with all of the new responsibilities that have been laid on your shoulders, but finding the time and the right workout program is one of the best things you can do for yourself and your children by giving them a healthy mother who can set a good example and be with them for a long time.
